Don't Call it a Comeback

Quickly, I must mention the freshly-announced news....Demi Lovato will now be playing Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy! Just kidding.... but she will be doing a guest role on the show. Come to think of it, Katherine Heigl was in the DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) Wish Upon A Star (must-see!), so maybe this is a natural progression for Demi. No doubt I will be watching.

Now onto the real news: until late yesterday afternoon I had no idea that Norman had some sports royalty in it's midst! I mean, aside from Bob, Barry, and some of the other native dwellers of course. Mike Holmgren, Pete Carroll, and many more showed up for a very special man in my life... I am of course talking about the beautiful and talented SAM BRADFORD! If you asked him about our relationship, he probably would deny it because he has to focus on getting ready for the draft with the single-mindedness of a jedi. Anywhooo....

I have been anxious/nervous/excited about this day for a while- the day when Sam would show to the world his skills and his abilities post-surgery. Well, me of little faith- he did BEAUTIFULLY! Seriously, it couldn't have gone any better! It made me so happy to hear all the news outlets just gush over his talent. Might I add, the boy has bulked up! In a good way, of course. He looks like a body that can withstand a hit. Not to mention, we already knew his Wonderlic score was a 36. Brains, beauty, athleticism. Sound like anyone else you know?

Now SB still has private workouts with the Redskins and the Rams coming up. Conventional wisdom would say that he is probably going to the Rams. Blech!! I think he has a better shot at immediate success under the guidance of a Mike Shanahan-led team. Granted, it would be hard for me to cheer for a Cowboys' division rival...but I would do it. Sam- throw the St. Louis workout!! Jusssst kidding people, don't get all crazy saying I'm giving my boyfriend unsound advice. Actually, maybe he can be the hero of the Rams and bring back 'The Greatest Show on Turf.'

This is so much better than B. Spears' comeback!! I'm so proud of you, S. Bradford!!!!!

Holy Hannah Montana!

A quick item of housekeeping: I would just like to point out that this blog is powerful...seriously. Powerful enough to inspire real change! As you may recall, I mentioned in my football wrap-up that the NFL needed to change it's overtime rules. Ask, and you shall receive, b/c the powers that be have heard my concerns and have changed the playoff overtime rules. Now each team will get a chance to have the ball at least once, and after that if it is still tied it goes to sudden death. It is still imperfect, but it's better than the existing system. You're welcome, world.

Now to the important stuff... tweeny bopper celeb gossip! I know what you are thinking- OMG! KEWL!

I would be remiss if i did not begin such a discussion with some tidbits about my girl Miley. I am eagerly anticipating the release of her new movie The Last Song. Miley + Australian Hottie + Nicholas Sparks is a formula crafted for my pure delight. I must say, she has been looking really pretty lately, and exuding a nature that is, dare I say, borderline relatable? She still isn't a very strong live singer, but neither is T Swift but more on that one (Taylor) later.

The Curious Case of Demi and Joe

Ok, I don't know if I've mentioned it but I love Demi Lovato because the girl can SING! Her songs are catchy and fun. She's like a Miley, but totally different. And I don't think they are friends, I don't care if Miley road her bike over to Demi's for meatloaf. Ok- off the tangent! She and Joe Jonas are apparently the new Disney power couple. IIIIIII'm just not sure if i'm buyin what they're selling here. Here's why: in December 2008 Demi said "No! I’ve never kissed Joe Jonas in my life. I’ve never kissed a Jonas brother, period! That would be weird…We’re all friends, but they’re not the type of guys that I’d be into dating – or else I’d be dating one!" Well..well... i guess times have changed if we are to truly to believe she is all of a sudden 'into Joe. Point #2: Camp Rock 2 is soon premiering on the Disney Channel, in which they are the romantic leads. This sure sounds like a Taylor-squared-to-good-to-be-true just-in-time-for-movie-promoting pairing... just say-in'! Point #3 See above their American Idol performance. Do YOU see any chemistry there? I think not. Finally, Taylor used to date Joe. Taylor is STILL bitter at Joe for breaking up with her in a 17 second phone call. Demi does not like Taylor and thinks she stole Demi's BFF Selena Gomez. Revenge, much? I'm just sayinnn this has LiLo and Hilary Duff circa 2004 written all over it. Who knows, Demi and Joe could be legit, I mean the have the publicity stills, I mean candid shots to prove it. Only time will tell.

Finally, T. Swift. UGGGGGH. Not. such. a fan. And I just refuse to believe the rumors that she is dating Cory Monteith of Glee. C'mon... Finn needs a woman who can actually sing! And can we talk for a second about that stuuuupid song "Today was a Fairytale." That phrase is repeated 15 times in the song, along with other earth-shattering observational statements such as "I can feel my heart/ it's beating in my chest." Revolutionary.

Phew! That wraps up this little update. I know ya'll were waiting for it with bated breath, and as always I'm pleased to deliver. I'll be sure to break the news if (when) the Jemi relationship dissolves.

March Madness!

Ok, so i'm not quite sure exactly how to break down the 40 hours I spent over 4 days working the NCAA tournament other than to say that it was a busy, crazy, fast-paced, long-days joy of an experience. Seriously. Maybe I'll just hit the standout points for me

* Ok, I seriously loved Lehigh's coach. He fully believed his team could beat Kansas. The way he spoke was incredibly motivational... it made me want to go out into the world and kick some butt! And his team played with a lot of heart... props to them.

* Ali Farokhmanesh! He MADE the OKC site. 2 game-winning threes... one of which knocked off the #1 overall team. the boy is SO clutch! UNI is the little team that could, and I am definitely cheering them on

*Jimmer Fredette- what an adorable name! I swear we all just kept saying it randomly because it was so fun.

*K-State- lookin' LEGIT! Their players have a fun and easy attitude, and their coach is scary intense... and they are for real. They all seem to have good heads on their shoulders and it is very easy to root for them.

*this has nothing to do with our site, but I am definitely pulling for St. Mary's to do well... maybe it's nerdy to rep the Catholics but I'm doin' it!! Amen!

*I heard Miley playing just before one of the press conferences and I about died of joy... I don't think anyone else was terribly amused.

*It's amazingly easy to lose all concept of time while in the Ford Center. It constantly feels like it's somewhere between 11am and 5pm.

Now it's over, done, in the books (which we so lovingly put together and passed out over and over). Here is one final random thought: I don't want to hear another single thing about Tiger Woods' private life. I just don't care. I must be the only one, though, as I can't seem to go one whole hour without seeing something about it. Ugh.

Life from the inside of a snow globe

Ok obbbbbviously we have some March Madness to discuss. Seriously! But not tonight. Gotta prep to get back to reality *sigh.* Anyways, saw this commercial tonight and thought it was hilarious so wanted to share it before I forgot about it!

Goodnight, snowy world!

This just in: Miley Gives Sound Advice

I know, I can barely believe it myself. This is the smartest thing I've heard since I heard the words "She's just being Miley." Miley has been off Twitter for a while, and now she's telling people that the internet is a waste of time. Dammit Miley, you have spoken to my social media-loving spirit. We could probably all stand to spend a little less time on the internet and a little more doing, well, pretty much anything else.

I'm just so proud of my girl *tear* *tear* for making a statement of actual utility. I also find it ironic that in spite of Miley's Edict of Internet Truths, I have posted not once but twice today.

I'm sure she'll be making some inappropriate flap in a day or two, but for now I'm going to soak in the pop-tastic wisdom of Miley. And i'm gettin' off the internet! Peace!

Study time

While most 22 year old Normanites are bronzing their beer bellies on Spring Break right now, this 22 year old Normanite is studying- and I'm not even in school anymore.

Why this cruelly ironic twist, you ask?

We are less than 24 hours away from the start of MARCH MADNESS! I'm super excited-it's going to be a great experience, and I hope I'm going to learn a lot and have some fun, too! The only problem is, I'm not exactly an NCAA guru. Sure, I "get" basketball- I can watch and appreciate the game and know what's going on, but unless OU is involved (and even then its sketchy at best), I just don't really get invested.

So that is why I am studying! I want to be able to speak a little bit about the teams we're hosting without sounding like a complete idiot. For instance, I didn't know that UNLV had a national championship under its belt, or that Lehigh is in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I guess you can take the nerd out of school, but you can't take the school out of the nerd.

I can't decide if I want to put any money on a bracket... given my disastrous Bowl Pick 'Em performance, it might prove to be the wise decision to bow out gracefully. On the other hand, if I did so poorly picking for a sport I love, picking teams I know so little about should yield excellent results. Sound logic, no?

Anyways, wishing you and yours a Happy March Madness...I will probably be MIA from the blogosphere and the real world for the next few days... if you need me i'll be living in a tent outside the Ford Center... peace!

Hello, Rain

Poor SJP, her hair was all a-frizzle when she presented at the Oscars last night... but I am feelin her pain right now as I sit in on this rain-soaked day. I could go on at length about the epic tale of my sweet car Chloe and the flat tire disaster of today, but we've got OSCARS to talk about!

I'm not going to really talk about the show, that is except to say that I'm glad Avatar did not win Best Director or Best Picture. Yes, it was visually stunning, but other than that... the story it told was pretty stale and unoriginal. Congrats to James Cameron's ex, Kathryn Bigelow. Can we say girl power!? And I love it that today is women's independence day. This woman won the highest achievement directing, and today I can't even change a tire. Ah, the plight of womankind....

Now... for the main event... Red Carpet!!! In honor of upcoming March Madness (which I will no doubt be blogging about soon because I get to be a very small part of it!), I will be breaking down my dress selections by three groups: "In," "Out," and "On the Bubble."

In:

Kate Winslet- She looks like a magnificent statue in the metallic tone and the structured bodice looks so fierce. The platinum hair caps of the whole throwback-meets-modern starlet look!

Elizabeth Banks- again with the platinum hair... beautiful! The dress isn't flawless, I find some of the seams a little awkward but overall, lovely.

Kathryn Bigelow- Ok, anyone else seeing a trend in me loving the steely metallic color? I wish she had done a little somethin-somethin with her hair, but I love the simple dress with the details on top that look like little hearts. Pretty, simple, feminine, historic. You go, girl!

Sarah Jessica Parker- I just love SJP and she looks so great and youthful with this dress and hair. I love love love it!

Helen Mirren- my gosh, I hope I look like Helen Mirren when I'm old. She has aged so gracefully, especially for a woman and she always dresses just perfectly for her age and body. And she's rockin' that silver!

Zac Efron- it pains me a little to say this (ok not really at all) but Zac Efron looks so fine! That's really all there is to say about that.

George Clooney- oh. my. gosh. I'm pretty sure Clooney is, like, 90% of the reason I like older men. JK i don't like my men THAT old... but he just looks so good all the time. I just love that he doesn't care about anything... he's so cool.

On the Bubble

Sandra Bullock- It's a very elegant dress, she just didn't carry it off. She looked kind of stiff and almost pained. Nerves, perhaps? She just looks awfully pale. Still, she looks pretty

Cameron Diaz- This dress is just a little to heavy for the normally light and free-spirited Cameron Diaz. The hair is overworked, too. It's not a bad look, it's just not the right look for her.

Sigourney Weaver- she looks very pretty. I just think she's done similar looks before. But I do love the tie waist and the embellishment on the shoulder.

Miley- love the hair, don't love the dress. The bottom of it is pretty, but the corset just feels inappropriate. And though she looks classy, the second she opened her mouth on the red carpet my ears started bleeding. She is almost abrasive when she speaks, and it's not terribly charming.

Out

Charlize Theron- this dress is so sad. It looks like Madonna cone boobs put over a quilted dress. It looks wrinkly and messy, and so unfortunate on a woman who can look so glamorous

Maggie Gyllenhaal- I debated putting her on the bubble because from the neck up she looks flawless but her blatant disregard for Oscar class style quite frankly is pissing me off. You cannot wear a print dress- it's just wrong, because it looks like it came from a cruisewear line. It's pretty, but it's not right for the occasion.

J Lo- Lately the woman is so attention-starved, and that huge hip piece is screaming "Look at Me! Look at Me!" I wanna send Jenny back to the block in this outfit, and luckily for me she's already been bubbled wrapped for convenience. Not to mention, her hair was another casualty of the humidity. That hair is yuck.

Amanda Seyfried- To this dress, I say, "Boo, you whore." I can pretty much apply the same description to her dress as to J-Lo's... bubble wrap-esque, way too voluminous. And she doesn't have half the attitude of J-Lo to even attempt to pull it off. Bad Bad Bad.

Zoe Saldana- this dress is a hot mess. I hate multi-tone dresses with a passion, and that ruffly bottom section looks like those one-size-fits-all stretch shirts from the early 2000s that I never owned and no one ever should have. Why? Because it's UGLY! Beautiful girl, baaaaad dress.Add Image

Taylor Lautner- I am sick of this kid. He's "out" because what has he done to merit these award show appearances? I'm sorry, but playing Jacob Black and Sharkboy should not be the staples of an Oscar-goers resume. Better be off now, I'm sure Tiger Beat will want to be co-interviewing you and Justin Beiber about your favorite flavor of ice cream.

Phew! And that is the end of awards show season *tear.* It's been fun having such an open forum for judging people based on their looks for the past few months, but it'll be nice to get some time off. Maybe I'll go vacation with Clooney and his lady on Lake Como for a bit. Work on my pre spring break glow. Just kidding, I'm not going on spring break! Later, blogosphere!

OK Go

No, readers, that is not an action directive; It's the name of one of the most fabulous bands that makes the most fabulous videos i've ever seen. I recently saw the latest one posted on a twitter feed, and when I saw that it was for OK Go, I knew it was going to be really good. So today I share with you some of the OK Go vids because they will undoubtably brighten your day. Unfortunately their videos have been disabled for embedding, so I will have to share them via links but I assure you if you have a joyful bone in your body you will find each one to be incredibly awesome. Click each song title to be linked to the video. You might want to right click and open each vid in a new window or tab, as I'm sure you don't want to be taken away from my glorious blog page completely :)

A Million Ways, was my first ever exposure to OK Go. It's so fun in it's simplicity and silliness. I love how they manually go over and turn their own CD on... hilarious.

Here it Goes Again... dancing on moving treadmills. Need. I. Say. More? I don't, but I will. I always watch it when I need a big smile! :D

The original video for This Too Shall Pass. So silly and fun!

And this is the RGM version- RGM stands for Rube Goldberg (Method?)... which I have deduced to mean that Rube Goldberg is the first guy to do this kind of thing. I won't detail what this thing is, because it's a cool surprise. Also, the fact that OK Go did two incredibly charming videos for the same song is really, really cool. And I was able to embed this one, yay!
