Another day, another awaaaaaards showwww! Am I excited? In the words of Fake Sarah Palin, aka, Tina Fey, "You betcha!" The SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) Awards aired last night, providing yet another platform for which I could judge people for their wardrobe!
It was so nice to see a sunny day for the show... the rain at the Globes kind of made everyone look a little dowdy. Unfortunately, for this show, many gown-wearers managed to do that to themselves. Everyone managed to stave off the 'ugly' pretty well for the Globes, but man, did it come back with a vengeance for the SAG Awards!
This time, I'm going to break down my thoughts more thematically rather than best and worst. It may be a little disjointed, but I believe it is justified by the hot messes that passed before my eyes!
We've seen it all before...
Kate Hudson, what's up with all the white? White statement dress is not the new LBD, you can't just wear it for everything! She looks great in the color, but this dress just has a very straight jacket quality that I can't get past. And COME ON... extremely high neckline... suprise ultra-deep cutout in the back? Hilary Swank 2005 Oscars, anyone?
Diane Kruger looked stunning, especially compared to her Globe's fiasco of a look. She looked so statuesqe and beautiful. And the color was such a shock! Oh wait... not so much... remember Michelle Williams a la 2006 Oscars? It was definitely deja vu at first take due to the color issue, but it truly was a beautiful dress and she looked fabulous!
Padawans and Jedi Masters
Sit back young guns and watch how the vets do it!
Marion Cotillard was a knockout in this outfit! The feathery bottom paired against the structured, asymmetrical top looked so fresh! Katrina Bowden looked a little too avian in her dress. The feathery pieces are too long- she looks as though she is molting. It is a cute idea of a dress, so I must give props for daring to wear it!

Christina Applegate is sooo cute always, but I especially like this dress. The color is outstanding, and it is draped just beautifully and flatters her nicely! I also love Dianna Agron, but I feel the draping on the top ends up looking a little awkward. I see the nod to sculpture, but the asymmetry just keeps leaving my eye confused. Again, props for trying something different. It is nice overall.
Hot Mess Fest
Ladies, I know the Globes were a bummer with the rain, but it is still January and this is still a classy awards show. Leave the beach-maxi-dress-wannabe-wear at home!
Yoikes, Drew! That dress is just. awful. It reminds me of lampshades in a very distinct way. That, plus horrible bouffant hair and lack of makeup equals disaster! But I have to say- finally a look that went all the way bad, so at least it was interesting!
Lovely Ladies
Lea Michelle looks so stunning. I literally gasped when I saw her! The color is bold and great, and she just works it as an entire look! Rachel Berry never looked so good!
Kyra Sedgwick is always so adorable! She and Kevin Bacon just make the sweetest couple. Enough about that- this dress is simply pretty. The little bit of draping across the bust and waist keep it fresh and unexpected. Love it!
Tina Fey! You brought it, girl. This dress is a million times better than the Golden Globes dress. The color is just so excellent. The cut is fairly flattering and interesting as well. Way to to turn it around!
I could go on and on, but I should probably close this out. One final thought... the kid who plays Manny on Modern Family was adorable on the red carpet! Despite his precocious character, he is just a normal kid from College Station, TX. He just does an amazing job playing what he calls "just a character." Coolest kid!
